The yearly rhythm

  1. Feb

    Philadelphia Classical Society Art Contest — original interpretations of Greco-Roman myth, history, or literature across nine artistic categories, or an academic exam.

  2. Mar

    National Latin Exam — a 40-question multiple-choice test spanning grammar, mythology, derivatives, literature, Roman life, history, geography, and oral Latin.

  3. Apr

    National Classics Week — grade-vs-grade academic and athletic challenges, a book drive, and a letter campaign to local government.

  4. May

    SCRIBO Latin Writing Contest — an international Latin composition contest designed to spur excitement for creative writing.

  5. Apr

    8th grade field trip — a weekend trip each April.

  6. May

    Pennsylvania Junior Classical League State Convention — academics, athletics, arts, talent shows, and quizzo against Latin students from across PA (8th grade).

II · Latin Club

Monthly meetings, all year

SRMS Latin Club brings students together for camaraderie and activities outside the classroom that promote all things Roman. Meetings happen after school in the cafeteria, with a few major joint events alongside the high school.
